- Day Order An order that expires automatically at the end of the trading session if it has not been filled; the default at most brokers.
- Fill or kill (FOK) An order that must be executed immediately and in full, or cancelled entirely; no partial fills are allowed.
- Good 'til canceled (GTC) An order that stays open across sessions until it fills or the trader cancels it, subject to the broker's maximum duration.
- Time in force: day, GTC, IOC, FOK and other order durations What day, good-til-canceled, IOC, FOK, all-or-none, on-open and on-close instructions do, how extended-hours eligibility works, and the traps in each.
