Base genes are Atlantic salmon (considered healthy and very palatable), the growth regulating gene (speedier and bigger growth) is from the Pacific Chinook salmon, and the ocean pout fish (eel shaped fish-not eel) gene, which allows them to grow year round instead of only spring and summer. Just so you know, the flesh of the ocean pout is firm, very low in oil and cooks up snow white and is a very mild tasting fish.
