From Barron’s this weekend: “A state law passed in 2019 capped a utility’s liability at 20% of its transmission and distribution rate base.”
From $SRE annual report :
Since the 2024 annual report isn’t filed yet, extrapolating from 2023, the rate base would be approximately $13 billion. So the liability cap would be approximately $$2.6 billion.
SRE market cap off since Tuesday close: 4.8B$ (84.23-77x6334m shares). Food for thought
