JD.com likely to make huge profits with their Canadian company SGQ.V investment in Mongolian coal miner!
A strictly personal view.
SouthGobi Resources Ltd., in Toronto SGQ.V has about a year ago awoken the interest of JD.com who through their subsidiary JD Zhixing Fund L.P. acquired over 64 Million shares of SGQ plus bought out their debt convertible debenture of US$250 Million for an undisclosed amount.

JD Zhixing took 2 seats on the board of SGQ.
SGQ reported for Q3 record profits. I believe Q4 will exceed those! A year later SGQ could possibly repay their debts.
Shivee Khuren/Ceke is the / border point for coal shipments by truck only. It is 45 km from the SGQ - “Ovoot Tolgoi” mostly open pit mine, where they process and wash their coal, then load on trucks by conveyor belts. Each truck has load capacity 100 to 140 ton!
For this Q-4 it is my estimate they will ship out a minimum 200 trucks per day. That is 20,000 ton per day x 22 days = 440,000 ton per month x 3 month = 1,320,000 ton for the quarter!
Average current selling price per ton is low estimate of US$90 per ton. Gross cost of coal production, prep, transport, royalties to GOM, = US48. Net profit per ton US$42
Total profit for this 4th quarter estimate a minimum of US$55,500,000 ! Multiply by 4 quarters US$222,000,000. Make allowances for bad weather days, production problems etc say next 12 month net profit a fair minimum of US$200,000,000
Divide this by 295,000,000 outstanding shares!
Per share profit US$0.68 = C$0.92.
Any minimum profitable company share trades at minimum 2-3 times earnings. So share value in a year could well be between C$1.80 to C$2.70 !
That is the present value x ten!!!
Their shares trade at Toronto Venture exchange as SGQ.V in Can$ and in Hong Kong as 1878.HK in HK$.
With proven reserves of 140 Million ton, SGQ has at very least a 25 year coal supply!
The main market is China and their demand is rising!

I believe SGQ can produce 5 -6 Million ton of quality coal per year in 3 main categories. SGQ can be more competitive than most other producers due to their advantageous location and very efficient management!
I wrote the above personal opinion analysis. I am not a qualified financial analyst and I have no further association with SGQ, other than as a public shareholder! I should disclose I bought shares of SGQ.V and therefore have of course an interest!
