The program is expected to improve travel reliability, safety and resilience, strengthen freight connections, and support communities between Auckland and Northland.
As the country's largest public-private partnership transportation infrastructure project, it includes approximately 16 miles (26 kilometers) of four-lane expressway, grade-separated interchanges at Warkworth, Wellsford and Te Hana, twin tunnels through Dome Valley and 15 bridges. The New Zealand government estimates the project's total value at approximately US$2.1 billion (NZ$3.6 billion).
Jacobs will design all 15 bridges, the utility relocations and building facilities packages. Work includes design management, geotechnical engineering, digital engineering and building services.
Warkworth to Te Hana forms the first section of the wider Northland Corridor and is classified as a Road of National Significance on the country's state highway network.
