DraftKings Inc. (NASDAQ:DKNG) shares are in the spotlight Monday, with earnings on deck, sports outcomes and prediction markets in focus, recent analyst activity and a technical setup showing a short-term bounce within a longer-term downtrend all drawing attention.
- DraftKings stock is surging to new heights today. What’s driving DKNG stock higher?
Earnings Preview & History
DraftKings is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings on Nov. 5 after the market closes. Analysts estimate a loss of about 39 cents per share along with revenue of $1.40 billion. For the prior quarter, DraftKings reported earnings per share of 9 cents, beating the consensus estimate of 2 cents. The company also posted revenue of $1.44 billion, missing the consensus estimate of $1.52 billion.
What to Watch: Sports Outcomes, Prediction Markets & Guidance
Investors will be closely tracking sports outcomes and promotional spending, since revenue fell 5% in the second quarter on customer-friendly results and higher promotions tied to customer acquisition. Management said sports outcomes cost about $80 million of revenue, and sports net revenue margin fell to 6.8% from 8.7%. The prediction markets business, which launched in December, will be a focus too. DraftKings said it expects to invest in it and is targeting the NFL season, and the CEO said it attracts a different customer base in states without regulated sportsbooks.
Customer metrics will also draw attention, after monthly unique payers rose 9% to 3.6 million and customer acquisition grew nearly 75% at the best acquisition cost since the first quarter of 2025. Full-year guidance will be in focus. DraftKings maintained 2026 revenue guidance of $6.5 billion to $6.9 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $700 million to $900 million and said its core business is on track for about $1 billion in adjusted EBITDA before Predictions investment.
Analyst Consensus & Recent Actions
The stock carries a Buy rating with an average price forecast of $32.39. Recent analyst moves include:
- Needham: Buy (Lowers Target to $30.00) (Nov. 2)
- BTIG: Buy (Raises Target to $26.00) (Oct. 29)
- Stifel: Buy (Lowers Target to $32.00) (Oct. 26)
Short-Term Bounce Within a Longer-Term Downtrend
At $22.01, the stock is 8.1% above its 20-day SMA ($20.16) and essentially flat versus its 50-day SMA ($21.78), but it’s still trading 7.2% below its 100-day SMA ($23.50) and 9.9% below its 200-day SMA ($24.18). That mix usually reads as a short-term bounce inside a longer-term downtrend, reinforced by bearish structure in the moving-average stack (the 20-day SMA below the 50-day SMA, and the 50-day SMA below the 200-day SMA).
Momentum is improving on the MACD: it’s above its signal line and the histogram is positive, which suggests downside pressure is easing versus the prior downswing. In plain terms, when MACD is above its signal line, it often means buyers are gaining traction even if the bigger trend hasn’t fully flipped yet.
From a level-to-level perspective, $24.50 is the nearby ceiling traders will watch because it sits close to the longer-term moving-average "gravity" zone (the 200-day SMA at $24.18) where rallies often stall in downtrends. On the downside, $18.50 is the key line in the sand, sitting just above the 52-week low area ($18.35) and marking a zone where buyers previously showed up.
- Key Resistance: $24.50 — a nearby level where rebounds can stall, near the 200-day SMA ($24.18)
- Key Support: $18.50 — a nearby level where buyers previously stepped in, near the 52-week low zone ($18.35)
