David Fessler has picked 12 stocks that are set to profit from the energy and infrastructure sector in 2010.
Fessler expects oil to trade in the range of $70 - $100 in 2010, supported by a strong demand from the emerging economies led by China. His picks are oil behemoths Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) and Royal Dutch Shell plc (ADR) (NYSE: RDS), which have substantial reserves.
David feels natural gas is one commodity where supply and demand dictates the market. Gas prices in 2009 have been at low levels, owing to huge deposits of underground oil and gas shale. However, David expects gas prices to rise with changes in drilling technology, preference for natural gas from environment perspective and cold weather. His picks are Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM), ProShares Ultra Oil & Gas (ETF) (NYSE: DIG), Devon Energy Corporation (NYSE: DVN) and Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE: CHK).
David has picked three stocks in alternative industries. He expects to see the consolidation in solar sector and the transition from silicon-based panels to thin film to continue in 2010. His pick in solar is First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLR). In the wind sector, his pick is Vestas ADR (PINK: VWDRY), the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturer with over 39,000 turbines installed around the world. David sees geothermal as an area with plenty of potential, particularly in the western US and picks Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA).
David views infrastructure as the one with the most potential over the coming months. His picks are Manitowoc Company, Inc. (NYSE: MTW), Harsco Corporation (NYSE: HSC) and Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC).
