Oracle (ORCL) Silences Its Critics On Sun (JAVA) Acquisition

Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL)(FREE stock trend analysis) assured the European regulators that it would continue to license MySQL, which is owned by Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA)(FREE stock trend analysis). Oracle has committed that it will support the open-source database software MySQL that competes with Oracle’s own product. EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes said that she was “optimistic” that Oracle’s acquisition of Sun could be completed while protecting the competition in the database market.
