BlackBerry (NYSE: BB) stock gains Friday following a QNX partnership with Valeo on an ADAS smart-camera platform.
BlackBerry Limited (NYSE:BB) shares moved higher on Friday, buoyed by broader market optimism and a Thursday announcement highlighting a collaboration between its QNX embedded software division and automotive supplier Valeo.
The Nasdaq is up 1.33% while the S&P 500 has gained 0.45%.

The two companies formed a strategic collaboration to integrate QNX OS for Safety into Valeo’s new front-view smart camera platform. The platform has already secured design wins with multiple automakers in China and is expected to enter production later this year.
The announcement took place at the Canada Pavilion during the ninth China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

Camera Platform Wins
The production-ready system combines QNX software with Valeo’s advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS, which assist drivers with automated safety tasks.
“Automakers need ADAS platforms that deliver safety, performance and cost efficiency without adding unnecessary development complexity,” said William Dong, Chief Representative of Greater China, QNX.
Valeo China President Song Zhou noted that the platform offers flexibility across vehicle programs: “By combining Valeo’s experience in camera systems with technology from QNX, we’re giving customers a smart camera platform they can shape around the needs of their own vehicle programs.”
Technical Analysis
BB is trading 0.9% above its 20-day SMA ($8.69) and 3.5% above its 50-day SMA ($8.47), which keeps the near-term trend pointed up even after a strong 12-month run of 89.72%. The one soft spot is the 100-day SMA ($8.92), with price still 1.8% below that level—often a spot where rallies can pause and "prove" themselves.
Momentum is best framed through RSI, which sits at 50.60 — basically neutral — suggesting the stock isn’t stretched and may need a fresh push to build follow-through.
The bigger-picture trend backdrop remains constructive: the 20-day SMA is above the 50-day SMA (bullish), and the golden cross that occurred in May (50-day SMA above the 200-day SMA) still supports the longer-term uptrend. With the stock 25.5% above its 200-day SMA ($6.98), bulls generally want to see pullbacks stay shallow to keep that structure intact.
- Key Resistance: $9.50 — Nearby round-number zone where upside attempts can stall if buyers don’t add volume.
- Key Support: $8 — Nearby round-number area that can act as a line-in-the-sand if momentum fades.
BB Stock Price Activity: BlackBerry shares were up 4.96% at $8.79 at the time of publication on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
