Super Micro rose 7.20% after hours after a beat and higher outlook. CFO Mark Long said one AI deployment can top a year-ago quarter.

Super Micro Computer Inc. (NASDAQ:SMCI) shares rose 7.20% in after-hours trading Tuesday as the server maker beat first-quarter estimates and raised its full-year outlook, while CFO Mark Long said a single artificial intelligence customer order can now match a year-ago quarter’s revenue.

A Single Deployment ‘Can Exceed’ a Year-Ago Quarter

On the company earnings call, Long said AI infrastructure is being built at scale that “a single deployment today can exceed our total quarterly revenue from just one year ago.”

One large data center customer accounted for 44% of revenue in the quarter, up from 28% for all of fiscal 2026, a concentration Long called “a consequence of the scale” of today’s AI buildouts.

Customers are also paying early, with deferred revenue up about $3.1 billion in the quarter, mostly from advance payments.

The Limit Is ‘Not Demand‘

Investors have been wary of the scale of AI spending, and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said in September that AI-related spending across the hyperscaler ecosystem could reach $1 trillion in 2027, up from about $300 billion last year and $700 billion this year.

Even so, Long said the limits on Super Micro’s outlook are “not demand” or its ability to build, but how fast customers’ facilities are ready for the systems it has built and the availability of key components.

“The binding constraints on AI buildouts across this industry right now are land, power, and data center shells,” he said.

Q1 Tops Estimates and Guides Above the Street

Super Micro posted $1.81 per share, beating the Street estimate of $1.20, per Benzinga Pro data.

Revenue came in at $19.95 billion, ahead of the $16.16 billion consensus and up 297.49% from $5.02 billion a year earlier.

For the second quarter, Super Micro expects adjusted earnings of $1.66 to $1.90 per share against the $1.10 estimate, and revenue of $19.5 billion to $21.5 billion against $17.33 billion.

It raised its fiscal 2027 revenue outlook to between $72 billion and $82 billion, above the $69.17 billion estimate.

Price Action: On Tuesday, shares closed 3.12% higher at $31.39 and climbed 7.20% to $33.65 in extended trading on the first-quarter results announcement.

Benzinga Edge rankings indicate Super Micro’s stock has a Momentum score in the 25th percentile and a Growth score in the 99th percentile.
