Prediction markets show Democrats favored to sweep the 2026 midterms, but their odds of winning the Senate have slipped to 73% on Kalshi.

After Tuesday’s stock market close, attention now shifts to the polls, which will determine whether Republicans or Democrats control the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate beginning in January 2027.

Here’s a look at the latest prediction market odds.

Democratic Party Sweep Still Favored

Prediction market Kalshi shows odds of 73% that the Democratic Party will win the Senate majority. These odds are down from 77% earlier this morning, with investors still weighing the potential impact of a Democratic Party sweep.

The odds show the Senate likely being 53 Democrats and 46 Republicans if the races stay as predicted. This would change the current makeup, which is 47 Democrats and 53 Republicans.

Democrats are leading six of the seven key Senate races that are expected to be close throughout the day. This includes Abdul El-Sayed with 75% odds to win over Mike Rogers (25%) in Michigan and James Talarico with 74% odds over Ken Paxton (24%) in Texas.

In Iowa, the race is currently split 50%/50% between Senate candidates Josh Turek and Ashley Hinson.

On prediction market Polymarket, the odds for the Democrats to win the Senate are at 74%, down from 77% earlier today.

For the House of Representatives race, the Democrats have much higher odds of taking control with Kalshi showing 94% odds of the party winning a majority.

The prediction markets currently show the Democratic Party favored to win majority control of both the House and the Senate. This could put the party at odds with President Donald Trump, who has promised to veto anything sent his way.

Polls remain open in many states for several hours with results not expected to come in until later tonight, with some races likely too close to call until all mail-in ballots are also accounted for.
