The ETF Professor isn't just about short-term trading and taking risks. The Professor loves to find ETFs that are geared for more conservative investors or those just seeking some balance for their portfolios.
Two high-yielding international ETFs caught the Professor's eye recently. The first is the PowerShares Financial Preferred ETF (NYSE: PGF), which holds only preferred shares in companies like finacials like Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), MetLife (NYSE: MET) and Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC). Preferred stocks pay better dividends and have higher yields than their common peers, making PGF an alluring play for the income investor. PGF yields close to 9%.
Another conservative yield play is the WisdomTree International Utilities ETF (NYSE: DBU). DBU holds a bunch of European utilities and yields close to 10%. Utilities are great yielders and international stocks are better dividend payers than their U.S. counterparts so warm up to DBU.
