Other more obvious reason is this mgt. and board have been turning away all offers for years.. which is why they need new CEO and Board that is acquisition friendly.. they go out and say we are for sale (bad move) then get offers and turn them all away.. why would anyone want to deal with this current mgt. ?? Been saying will have to be a hostile takeover that kicks out this Mgt team
-
One major reason the most likely buyers have not bought out LGF is the DOJ and FTC are going after them all for a myriad of political reasons and to extract settlement cash out of them all of course .. why bring even more scrutiny and possibly it gets blocked anyway by anti free market types in the deep state .. possible they do pull trigger before 2020 election since that could mean even more DOJ attacks
-
Content spending will ramp up in a big way over next few years... LGFA will be a buyout target for sure as an easy and cost effective way to add lots of content in one affordable deal..
Meanwhile, CEO Hastings promised on Wednesday to keep all users of Netflix keen on subscribing to the service. When asked about Netflix's dramatic increase in spending on content production now hitting $15 billion annually Hastings said, "We're planning on taking spending up quite a bit." -
Show ad for Starz is all LGF gets from Disney to get it’s previously licensed content back ?? another ridiculously poor deal in my view that this mgt. is making .. eroding Starz value to give content back to Disney ?? Unbelievable.. can someone explain a positive benefit to LGF I’m not thinking of ?
-
Comcast is more than priced in.. even the slightest good news will pop stock 20%..
-
Everyone saying Apple TV + a content dud .. all others locking up content on proprietary streaming so only Lionsgate available content library at a reasonable price.. Another angle now that Sony shutting down Vue is they buy LGF for Starz and combine Sony Columbia Content with Lionsgate
-
block trades .. 900k in 8 or so blocks .. no news .. buying early but SO much overhead resistance this thing can’t break out of this slump .. need a real positive surprise of some kind.. A deal with comcast .. huge blowout Qtr .. new Activist investor .. Co. announces hired a Goldman type to explore strategic options.. and of course an offer that would likely have to be hostile in nature to shake loose this arrogant mgt board grip ..
-
Basically an option now if not in or looking to Avg. down.. bankruptcy speculation near term
just Shorts looking to pile on.. no risk there..At $8.20 downside nil and upside 50-100% over next 3-6 months ..
-
In earnings quiet period now so won’t hear anything from Mgt. until Nov 7 .. probably the biggest earnings call communications “performance” of this Mgts. career to revive confidence.. We shall see but based on history I hold out little hope for a blockbuster call.. probably more of the same head in the sand 2025 goals for Starzplay Arabia
-
In next month or so price hinges on Comcast deal.. $11-$12 if they work out a deal and $8 if not.. longer term will see how many Comcast conversions to paid either through Comcast or Starz OTT but no doubt Comcast knows 1/3 of Starz subscriptions SVOD through Comcast and they playing take it or leave it hardball tactics ..
-
Selling related to Comcast and potential debt downgrades
-
Comcast must be blathering about Starz this morning on earnings call ..

DOJ considering probe into Comcast plan to charge extra for Starz https://research.tdameritrade.com/grid/public/markets/news/story.asp?docKey=1-SN20191022004510&cid=1-SN20191022004510-MIP

From a note that the Evercore ISI analyst just published:
"Lionsgates Starz premium movie service and distributor Comcast are having a very unusual (2.5 months early, and very public) negotiation ahead of their carriage expiration. There have been conflicting comments/data points coming from Comcast, but our take is that both sides are working toward a renewal. Starz negotiating leverage is that it has important original programming coming up in the couple of months after this deal is set to expire, and while Comcast has stated an intent to replace Starz with EPIX channels, Starz has already been replacing traditional linear subscribers with OTT subs.
In this note, we introduce our Base/Bull/Bear cases for LGF valuation which impacts the other businesses at LGF in addition to the puts and takes on Starz. Our valuation range is $17/$22/$13 for the three cases. The average of the three is $17, our new PT."

Mgt. and Board has lost complete control of this sinking ship.. mayday calls for survival and no one listening.. incoming torpedoes from all directions and little to no defense.. all to do now is pray for the lost souls .. Amen
-
I don’t believe there ever was a real Hasbro offer for $40.. speculation rumors or pure manipulation by insides
-
Where the hell is MHR ???? too busy watching Outlander episodes to notice he losing billions... shocking incompetence and fiduciary malpractice
-
With all that said .. LGF best to divest Starz and focus on content for ALL OTT buyers, big screen and SVOD.. sell IP to highest bidders and focus 100% on great content creation which was their original mission..
-
Comcast is a joke .. dropped that horrible low quality high cost service for ATT long ago .. yet another reason for all to dump xfinity with so many other services..
Basically xfinity pushing out all media with OTT options in advance of their PeaCrap OTT -
Comcast stripping out other channels from their packages and requiring a separate payments.. any media provider that has started their own OTT like Starz, comcast will remove from their lineup and require added charges to keep service all while keeping same package cost ..
Turner Classic Movies Will Soon Be Available Without Cable
You can can still watch Starz on comcast but will havevto pay $12 a month on top of same package cost when starz was included .. $10 added for TCM..
