On this Memorial Day, a 95-year-old widow remembers her husband, a man she says was a war hero and her soul mate.
MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - When she hears the sound of “Taps” and sees the American flag flying high, 95-year-old Pauline Shull feels nothing but pride.
“Ohhh, words can’t say,” Pauline said. “We were married almost 69 years.”
Her husband Paul Shull was not only her soulmate, but also her hero.
“Eighth Air Force 34th bomb group and 18th squadron. I have to get it all in!” she laughed.
Shull was also our country’s hero.
“Four of the crew members were killed upon landing and four of them were taken prisoners,” Pauline said.
Shull was an Air Force flight engineer during World War 2.
He also was a Prisoner of War, held captive for over six months before being released in 194 ...
