Pfizer and BioNTech Will Sell 500 Million Covid Vaccine Doses to the U.S. for Global Distribution

Pfizer and BioNTech announced Thursday that the two had reached a deal to sell 500 million doses of their Covid-19 vaccine to the U.S. government at a not-for-profit price. The U.S. will donate those vaccines to low-income countries.
The companies did not disclose what the price was. In December, the U.S. government agreed to pay $1.95 billion for 100 million doses of the Pfizer (ticker: PFE) and BioNTech (BNTX) vaccine, or $19.50 per dose. Pfizer has said it expects to sell $26 billion worth of the vaccine this year alone.
